Hullo all, we've been cooking up some exciting stuff at the Academy that I can't wait to share with you. A free live interactive webinar here on what New York editors have said that they wanted scheduled for August 22nd, and an exciting updated iteration of the Craft and Business of Writing Picture Books that will not only have our awesome Mandy co-teaching with me, but also the FABULOUS Barbara Bottner who is not only a major best selling author herself but has taught many of the greats!!! Click here to find out more and make sure that you don't miss out. Meanwhile, I've been really missing doing my Mondays with Mira video reviews, which is how this blog started out years ago. Those of you who have taken courses with me here at the Academy, probably know my assistant Leda. Well Leda's boyfriend works in the digital games field and and Leda loves games, which of course has made me more open to them. And yesterday I made a video review of the fabulous Roxie Munro's Amaze Ways picture book for you all here on this blog. It's an extraordinary book for younger kids introducing them to different environments and the world at large through super creative and accessible maze games. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do. I also wanted to share this super inspiring video about games and about adding 10 years to your life. While it might seem a smidge off topic, I know that there's stuff in here that's relevant for us children's book people, just can't say what right now. If you can figure it out, let us know. :)
Finally, to see more of Roxie's unique work, visit her website www.roxiemunro.com where you can learn more about her and her books, apps and games :) And don't forget to sign up for our free webinar, even if you can't attend so that you can get the replay.

That book is awesome! I'm adding it to my must have lists. I love how she found a new twist and added a ton of different elements to the book.

Here is a quote from the TED talk link that relates to an author's journey to publication: "Turn this into a game.... when we play a game we tackle tough challenges with more creativity, more determination, and more optimism , and we are more likely to reach out to others for help."
