I had so much fun reading and making this video. Won Ton is a wonderfully lyrical picture book story in haiku form about a cat adoption and so much more. It's both delightful, skillfully done, and thought provoking as well as hilarious in parts. Lots to love and learn from a book like Won Ton.

I love this next fun book that features prediction, play, and the pleasures of language with rhyming text by Carol Diggory Shields and gorgeous watercolor illustrations by Sophie Blackall. Sit back, relax, and enjoy learning a little about some Australian animals and how wonderful it is to read well-crafted words. Today's sweet review is about the non-fiction picture book Nugget on the Flight Deck and shows how the author Patricia Newman weaves a ton of fascinating information in with as few words as possible, making those words as fun as possible. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do. Although I don't talk about it much, watch how the relational aspects of the two main characters lead us through the story. I've been hosting my free teaching videos on an outside blog, then on my new website at www.mirareisberg.com and then I finally figured out that this is where they should live, right here. Now as I'm super swamped working on what will probably be the best online picture book writing course ever : ), I'm just going to upload the videos here and come back when I get a chance to include the commentaries. I hope you enjoy and do comment if you can. Lucy Cousins' Hooray for Fish |
