You’re a monster with a bad cold – how do you get rid of that cold and still act scary?

Having a cold is a major drag, and when people find out you're sick, they don't want to get near you. The monster slowly trudges along with a tissue up one nostril and mayhem ensues. When he finds out that he was still able to scare people, he feels a whole lot better.

The monster (me) boils up a batch of honey-lemon tea (which is good for a cold) in his big cauldron. But so he doesn't appear to be a sissy, he collects what he claims to be hearts and livers and other body parts of animals and people who may be his next victims, and he adds these 'things' to his brew. People tend to run away in horror. He laughs himself to health.

I need to make my previous post clearer. The second sentence should read...."...other body parts of animals and people, making people believe they may be his next victims, and he adds..."

The sniffling, sniveling Monster goes around town threatening to eat people up if they don’t help cure him of his cold. Terrified everyone runs away leaving the sniffling, sniveling Monster to sniffle and snivel all alone. Then a boy named Will decides to face his own fear and help the Monster cure his cold and get back to doing what monsters do best.

I'll make every sneeze sound like a slobbery snarl and every cough like a contagious clamor to spread my germs. Blowing my nose will sound like snotty trumpets of doom. I'll point out the redness in my eyes, and the tears is my ducts as further proof that I'm terribly frightful. And when they've all run screaming for their lives as the fright of my fluish face... I'll call up my momma and ask for some TLC.

Sniffling and sneezing is just no fun until a little monster figures out that nobody wants to catch his cooties. He sneezes louder, sniffles scarier, and snorts grotesquely until everyone screams and runs away. Who knew that getting sick could be soo fun?

I imagine a little monster in monster school. He tries to take his sneaking test, and coughs loudly, giving himself away. He tries to do his lurking exercise, and drips snot all over. He tries to jump out and scare someone, but sneezes all over them. Then he realizes, that as a monster, being that gross is actually a good thing. He runs after everyone and they all take off. Finally he wears himself out, and has to go home and go to bed. I think it would be tied to time of day to help give it structure.

I'll slurp and growl into my tea so loud and cause quite a scare
I'll blanket my self with stinky bats to keep warm but still cause alarm
I'll hide under the little boy's bed with my big red blurry eyes peeking out
I'll blow the green goo out of my nose and all over the village to terrify them
Then ... I'll go home to Mommy monster for a hug and a bowl of chicken soup

Jumbo's the tiniest monster at Monster Academy.
He's not very good at scaring.
Or sneaking.
Or lurking.

He's no good at catching children.
He's only good at catching colds.

The All Monster Olympics is coming up, and Jumbo's got NO chance of winning unless he can harness the power of snot.

Snot can slip other competitors up.
Snot can stick children in an instant.
And snot's pretty scary, once Jumbo gives a free lecture on germs.

Will the snot save the day?
