  • Fun Readaloud, Nice Twist on a Well-Known Song
By CarrotCake on March 20, 2019
THE REAL FARMER IN THE DELL a rollicking rodeo adventure where a cute little mouse reveals the TRUE story of the Farmer and the Dell. Who might not be a farmer and who might not live in a dell ;) My kids love making up their own versions of the song after we read it--and their songs usually revolve around cheese, lol. They really get a kick out of the ending.

  • A real winner!
Melissa Stoller on March 21, 2019
This clever debut picture book by Sandra Sutter is a charming retelling of the classic song, The Farmer in the Dell. Sutter spins the story on its head, and tells the tale from the point of view of a mouse, who witnessed the real story, and says: "Wait! Stop! This song is all wrong! I know because I was there." Children will enjoy the vibrant illustrations, especially of the horses and dogs. And young readers will keep turning the pages to find out what truly happened at the end. This book is a real winner!

  • A charming twist on a classic that children will love!
By AColbert on May 3, 2019
A lively twist on a classic that kids have loved for ages. Teachers and parents will enjoy helping their children find comparisons to the original while encouraging creativity to do the same for other classics. The colorful illustrations add to the charm of the story. Great for children as young as three and as old seven.

  • Fun Kid Friendly Story that Breaks Stereotypes!
By KVO on May 9, 2019
The Real Farmer in the Dell is a fun story that switches the original story up a bit. Instead of a farmer, the main character is a rancher. The story is rather rhythmic and when reading aloud it is hard not to turn it into a song. The mouse is a real funny character and he is the narrator of the story. He is immediately engaging and quite the story teller. The illustrations are also amazing and pair nicely with this wonderful story. I definitely recommend this book and know a whole classroom of kindergarteners who gave it two thumbs up! Enjoy the adventure.

  • WOAH! Great children's book!!
By Lynne Cioffi on May 10, 2019
The author, Sandra Sutter, took a nursery song that we all know and love and stepped it a whole bunch of notches!! What a fun read from the perspective of the mouse. It's fun to sing the story as well!! The illustrations pair well with the storyline and the children love the silly antics of the farm animals, dogs and cat that are illustrated! Highly recommend!! Congratulations to Sandra Sutter on a book "well done!"

  • What a fresh take on a classic!
By Amazon Customer on May 20, 2019
I read this book to my children and they liked the new twist that Ms Sutter put on a classic story that they have been hearing since they were little. I loved the change I perspective and the narrator-mouse. They liked the lady rancher on the range and the rodeo ideas very much, and the illustrations are so easy to follow, so they don't feel left behind when I read the story. My kids would love to ask even more questions to the mouse, about the components of the story (including the pack of dogs), as "...Mommy he knows, he was there!" This is most definitely a great book for modern kids that like farm life and animals!

  • Fun Reading with a New Twist
By Colorado Sunshine on April 26, 2019
This book is so well done from the twist of the imaginative story about the rancher on the range as told by an adorable mouse with creative illustrations. I won’t give away the plot but you’ll be surprised who the rancher is!
I am a grandmother and I can assure you that kids will love reading this book. It is well worth having in your home library as it will be a favorite. Adults light up too as the story reveals a new way of thinking on a timeless tale. You’ll enjoy it for sure.

  • What a fun book!
By Yvona on April 2, 2019
A great re-telling by a mouse! I love all the fun twists and turns – the wife took a husband; the ranch and rodeo instead of the farmer and the dell… Kids will love the inside look at what ‘really’ happened. Rollicking and fun!
