What could be cuter on Halloween than a clumsy werewolf who wants to scare someone and literally cannot get out of his own way? Did I mention Stan, the main character is adorable? As luck would have it, his favorite yearly tradition of scaring others is ruined when he breaks his foot. Author Sandra Sutter playfully takes the reader on a hilarious journey of Stan finding alternative methods to achieve his playful pranks. However, one by one, as he discovers he will not be able to accomplish his frightful tasks, he heads home only to discover everyone was out having a good time... or were they? Sandra Sutter has your heart attached to Stan's every move with her pun on words, the building of suspense, and of course, the adorable werewolf Stan! To top off this fun experience, she provides yummy recipes so you can create your very own Halloween party goodies! This is for anyone ages 3 to infinity! Schools, teachers, families, children, will all enjoy Stan's adventure over and over again!!

Stan is a werewolf that captures your heart, right from the start, when his cluminess gets him into all sorts of predicaments that makes him fear he will miss out on all the fun. I won't give any spoilers but this is an adventure story that will be the best Halloween read-aloud for decades to come! With its fun illustrations and Halloween snack recipes at the end, it is a great choice for parents and teachers alike.

un Spooky Story For Your Little Ones
Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2020Need a picture book to make your children’s bedtime a little spookier? Be sure to check out our latest certified great read, Stan’s Frightful Halloween by Sandra Sutter! This book is a silly and fun story about a young werewolf named Stan who is excited for the upcoming Halloween and looks forward to scaring the people away. However, his clumsiness ruins his plan as he tumbles, falls down, and breaks his leg a day before Halloween. But this doesn’t stop him from trying to get into different costumes to scare people. From flying brooms to ghosting to tying toilet paper around his body to become a mummy. He tries everything and realizes it’s not that easy to scare people after all. He ends up having the best Halloween party ever. The images are fun and eye-catching. The illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne epitomize the fall spookiness that Halloween nights are filled with. Each page has a cool picture of costumes and Halloween décor. I especially adore the page with all sorts of different treats that are available at Stan’s Halloween party such as Spider Pizza, Scary Soda to Crazy Donuts. And the last page includes the recipes of these fun Halloween themed snacks. All in all, the book is cute and not scary at all. Making it a perfect choice for the read-aloud session. Maybe the kids will even find costume ideas in the book! The story, the message, and the illustrations- all together make it a wonderful book. A great little read for toddlers!
