  • Book That Promotes Acceptance
By Sharon Coffey on October 15, 2018
Our lovable main character, Kuda, is a bear that loves the quiet, soft sounds that live in the trees and streams of the woods. Then . . . new noisy neighbors bring Rock & Roll to the woods. Kuda doesn’t like how their music changes the peacefulness of the woods. Read this sweet, humorous story to find out how perspective and patience can transform.  Sensory Integration can be challenging to many children and adults alike. Those that struggle with this will see themselves in Kuda. Every teacher and librarian can benefit by having this book in his or her library and classroom. It’s a great tool to help children be more understanding and aware of classmates, family and friends that are Kudas. As an extra bonus, this book contains back matter on Sensory Integration.  The art is uuuuu-dorable. It includes big-eyed facial expressions and soothing, muted colors. I love the way the music dances across the pages. I don’t know what the cover of the book is made of but it feels soft, almost rubbery. It’s awesome.

  • Highly recommended for children!
By Anne on October 4, 2018
Like the music and lyrics to a favorite song, I keep thinking of BOOM whappa whappa. Such great sound effects! Ms. Howard's book is great for all young children---or those who are young at heart. I love how she makes us empathize with Kuda when the sounds in his beloved neighborhood are changed one day. Ms. Howard's wonderful way with words and Ms. Wolf's gorgeous illustrations make this a book to be enjoyed over and over.

  • Kids will love it.
By Lawgirl on September 28, 2018
I believe this is the debut picture book for both the writer (Sherry Howard) and the illustrator (Anika Wolf), and they've done a wonderful job. Howard's lively language and Wolf's enchanting illustrations join forces to create a truly lovely book. It's not only thoroughly entertaining, but also teaches kids to be more understanding and empathetic humans.

  • A Beautiful Book--Inside and Out
    By Marsha P on September 30, 2018
This is a great book! I read this twice last week to my grandson, Ben, who is four. When I asked him his favorite part, he replied, "BOOM, Whappa, Whappa." He also loved how Kuda put on several layers of clothes to block the loud noises. It's refreshing to see a character endure changes and grow to love the changes.
The illustrations are just as lovely as the words on the pages. I have purchased 4 for family members and plan to purchase 3 more for teachers I know.

  • This is an adorable book! with cool sound effects!
By Yvona on October 3, 2018
Kids will love this book! The repetition, lovely engaging language and sound effects are adorable! I loved the chirrup... whoosh... whoppa... I loved how his friends helped him overcome his aversion to loud noise.

  • A fun story for everyone, especially children with sensory integration issues.
    By S.R. Shamsi on March 31, 2019
Rock & Roll woods is a heart-warming and enjoyable story about Kuda, a bear who is afraid of change. I highly recommend this lovely story, especially for children who are sensitive to change. The added back matter is extremely helpful for parents and teachers with information on sensory integration.

  • Colorful and satisfying for sensitive readers and everyone!
By Mary Resk on November 29, 2018
Kuda is a sensitive and lovable bear rendered beautifully in Anika Wolf's soft, warm-hued illustrations. It's hard not to love Kuda from the onset! Sherry Howard's story unveils naturally and effectively, enticing small readers to keep searching along with Kuda for where all that racket is coming from. BOOM WHAPPA WHAPPA... The rhythm, sounds and characters engaged my 5 year old son, who immediately requested multiple reads. I am excited to share this also with a young friend who struggles with Sensory Processing Integration issues. Such a tender and lovely read!

  • Sweet story that reaches out to a special audience
    By NY/LA on October 2, 2018
Any kid would enjoy this story, but it will be especially poignant for children with sensory issues (and their parents, grandparents, friends, etc). I've already read it multiple times to my kids. Sweet and fun!

  • Love Kuda and his friends in the woods!
By Kindle Customer on September 28, 2018
Kuda is adorable! Who wouldn’t love a grumpy bear who finds out something new can be fun? This is engaging to read aloud, and the illustrations are gorgeous! It will become a favorite in your family, so get ready to boom, whappa, whappa!

  • Precious book highlighting neurodiversity
By Jacob United States on June 24, 2019
This book is such a sweet introduction for children to embrace and better understand neurodiversity. It also may make kids with hypersensitivity feel seen and represented.
