"Know Your Niches: What Kind of Picture Book Writer or Illustrator
Are You & How Can You Improve?
"
Webinar/Workshop
Welcome, welcome to the recording and workshop part of Julia Maguire's and my presentation on finding your niche to improve your work. Please excuse the ums and aahs and any clunky bits.

First up is the webinar recording, followed by some handy worksheets that we hope that you use. For the final worksheet, we ask that you do a drawing based on what you learned from the previous worksheets, but just before that I'm including a wee video called Stick Figures and Beyond from the Craft and Business of Illustrating Children's Books - an empowering and highly interactive e-course. The video is for anyone scared of drawing or who thinks they can only draw stick figures and is one of my earliest videos so it's a bit DIY looking but fun.

OK, who's ready to explore their niche(s) and see what comes up for you? As you can see we've put a lot of work and heart into all of this and would love some testimonials at the bottom. If you are up for this, we'd be super grateful. And if you're feeling adventurous or ready to learn how to illustrate kid's books or ready to take your work to the next level and open new doors, we'd love to go on that wonderful creative journey with you  – just click right here!

This niché webinar was perfect for helping put my stories in the correct genre. I was also able to decide myself which niché the Pb's I have read, belong in and how many of them cross over inot other niché's. The worksheets are invaluable as well. Great webinar loaded with fun and insight. Thank you Mira and Julia!

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to listen to both Mira and Julia in this webinar about Finding Your Niche. For awhile, I've struggle with trying to force myself to write and illustrate in a niche that doesn't come natural to me, and after listening to you both, I had my Aha Moment!!! I recognize that I am drawn naturally to Sweet, Conceptual, and Soulful. I am looking forward to participating and learning about the Craft and Business of Illustrating Children's Books Course with you both!!

Thanks for the webinar. You've put a great deal of effort into the presentation. Some of the picture books were mentioned in my uni course last year. See my website for details.

Wonderful! Lots of material covered and I am so proud to have my NOAH included as an example of quirky NF biography. You're right - Vincent's illustrations are absolutely perfect. Congrats and thanks for your work, Mira and Julie.

Mira...your webinars, like your classes, are always jam packed with great content! Having Julia's expertise was like the icing on a cake. Thank you so much. I especially loved getting the picture book titles for each genre/niche...having concrete examples makes all the difference. And the worksheets are excellent!

Thank you Mira and Julia for all the preparation you did for this webinar. I really appreciate having the recording available as my computer was more disconnected than connected during the live webinar! Feeling inspired again!

Thank you so much for these helpful worksheets, Mira! And also, since I can barely draw stick figures, I really enjoyed your and Betty's demonstration on how to give your stick character life! I'm definitely going to give it a go! Thank you so much for all your amazing help and direction! :)

Mira always makes me stop and really think about what I'm writing and why I'm writing it. Important stuff! And thank you, Julia, for sharing your favorites and most importantly, WHY they are favorites.
