  • Funny and heartwarming story
By Ibrahim Yuksel on June 6, 2019
This is a funny and heartwarming story of a little girl and the creative and triumphant way she redefines herself with passion, practice, and persistence. It has beautiful and expressive illustrations to delight children of all ages. My kids loved it.

  • Yo-de-lay-hee-hoo!!! Who loves Maureen? Me, that's who!
By Jolene Gutiérrez on March 5, 2019
Maureen feels average. She hasn't found her special "thing," and every time she goes to town, she's told by one of the farmers that he's got a cow called Maureen. What's a girl to do? Well, Maureen goes to her Thinking Tree and practices yodeling. What she doesn't know is that her beautiful voice carries into town, and the townspeople love her voice enough to enter Maureen in a contest. Now, farmers don't compare her to their cow. Instead, they know her for her champion yodeling skills! A wonderful true story that shows that everyone is uniquely talented. Fun, colorful illustrations make this lovely book even more enjoyable.

  • Your name is only the beginning!
By debbie on March 6, 2019
This book evokes triumph and courage. I love the way Maureen's Nana turns every negative thought into a positive. We all feel limitations. Yet, Maureen leads the way, sharing how to find ones gift and express it to the world. Although Maureen is teased for having a common name for a cow, she changes the way people see her . . . forever!

  • Maureen is BRILLIANT!!
By Cindy Vattathil on November 14, 2019
I loved everything about this book...the beautiful illustrations, the story of uncertainty and persistence, the message that we all have something special to share with the world...but, the best part, in my opinion, was the fact that it was based on a real lady! This book is beautiful, touching, and such a cute addition to any library. We will be reading this one for many years to come.

  • Yodel-ay-hee-oh!
By Melissa Stoller on March 5, 2019
Debut author Erin Le Clerc has written a beautiful tribute to her Nana, the original Maureen! In the story, Maureen overcomes many obstacles (including hearing everyone in her town say they have a cow named Maureen) to become a championship yodeler in Australia. Her spunk, spirit, and grit serves her well throughout the book. The lovely illustrations perfectly complement this heartfelt story.

  • Leaves you with a catch cry and warm and fuzzy feelings
    By Brydie W. on May 23, 2019
I was lucky enough to be part of the author's critique team and I now have great delight seeing Le Clerc's vision brought faithfully to life. Love the illustrations that give it that country feel of yesteryear. An endearing story about finding your calling and showing that everyone can excel, especially when they have a special person in their corner. And a catchy title kids will love!

  • A fun and encouraging read
By Heather Bell on March 23, 2019
I fell in love with Maureen's journey to find what makes her special. My son really enjoyed the illustrations and it is a fun read aloud (especially if you want to try your hand at a mini yodel). I love how encouraging this story is. It also leads to fun questions for the kiddos of what they think their amazing talent is.

  • A must have book
    By Anne L'Estrange on April 12, 2019
This is a little gem of a book! The story brings out the joy of the country, bravery and song to see you through the tough times. You feel the emotion reading the author put into the book and see the scenery come to life in the illustrations. A must have for any collection of great kids books.

  • Believing in Yourself- Following your Dreams
    By S.R. Shamsi on April 1, 2019
This is such a delightful and charming story of a girl who feels she is not good at anything- and becomes the county’s greatest yodeler! This is a beautiful and inspirational story. I highly recommend this for all children. The illustrations are adorable too!

  • A charming story with a contemporary message
Teacher and Mom of 3 on March 30, 2019
Maureen is teased about her name until her true talent shines through. I'VE GOT A COW CALLED MAUREEN is a fun story with a powerful message for today's youth to find their voice and sing loud and proud! Perfect for ages 3-7.
