Hooking the reader is essential for any age reader. If you don't have a great hook, an editor won't read enough to love and buy your book and then kids won't get to read your story. Waah! This short video is an excerpt from the Craft and Business of Writing Children's Picture Books live e-Course and explains what a hook is and how to create a great one using some wonderful examples. If I'm wearing a hat, it means I'm having a bad hair day. Unfortunately while I was making the videos for this course, I had many bad hair days. Fortunately, I have a great hat collection, which began when I illustrated Uncle Nacho's Hat 25 years ago :)
